The Mamdani Act
Revisiting mind virus disease control
This will be a quick hit. You can watch the whole video, or just the part that I queued up with the link.
The fascinating bit is how the co-host Saagar Enjeti starts off his comments with:
I like the spirit but would apply it very very differently
[…]
I think this 5th Column that we have of all these interventionist neocons who bring their bullshit from the Third World over here and try to hijack our military and our population to fight their ethnic conflicts, it’s crazy to me
Hear, hear!

Took the words right off the tips of my fingers.
Let me back up to add context. What Enjeti and his co-host Krystal Ball (good to see some parents still had senses of humor in the 1980s) are discussing is Texas Red Rep Chip Roy’s latest immigration bill, dubbed the “Mamdani Act”. It would exclude people with ideologies that are incompatible with ours, both from entering and once allowed in. At the limit denaturalization or forced expatriation.
Roy is especially exercised over the Red-Green alliance, so typified by the Mamdani family, not just Zohran, but his tenured Columbia professor radical father as well. It goes too far, as is Roy’s wont. Firing for show as much as for effect.
Worth reminding ourselves that there is already a law on the books that bans entry of those holding incompatible ideologies, Section 212(a)(3)(D) of the Immigration and Nationality Act (INA) (codified as 8 U.S.C. § 1182(a)(3)(D)):
(D)Immigrant membership in totalitarian party
(i)In general
Any immigrant who is or has been a member of or affiliated with the Communist or any other totalitarian party (or subdivision or affiliate thereof), domestic or foreign, is inadmissible.
All theocracy ideologies fit the common usage of ‘totalitarian’ since they are based on arbitrary authority that’s not up for debate or democratic process revision and aims for total control of society and individuals, denying our most cherished right, Liberty. So, Roy’s right on Islam. As well as the Red-Green Alliance. That’s a truly incompatible menace.
Where he goes too far is equating ‘socialism’ with communism. Yeah, yokels like Roy and the rest of the red MAGA base are too stupid to understand the differences, and it’s clear he’s pushing part of the Project 2025 agenda to cleanse the country racially, ethnically and ideologically of anyone who disagrees with him.
Hard no.
And Krystal Ball dismisses the idea as insane, in her best partisan advocate mode.
Senjeti’s take, though, is a bit more thoughtful. He accepts the point about incompatibility, which absolutely tests our First Amendment architecture: what are the limits on freedom of conscience, then expression, then action? If the law says totalitarianism then we should be enforcing it there. But his beef is with Cuban and Iranian nationals coming to America only to use our power as a platform to change those countries’ regimes (see the second part of his quote above … or watch the clip).
In some sense he’s a pull-the-ladder-up-behind-you archetype son of immigrants. I have written repeatedly that foreign influence over American domestic politics has gone way overboard. It’s a hangover from the glory days of the New World Order, where we were championing Globalization/Neo-Cosmopolitanism and opened wide our doors as the hegemon and role model of that naïve utopianism, or at least ignored the arbitrage labor sneaking in for the love of $$$/profit.
In any case, I think it’s high time we had this debate, free of Political Correctness censorship and propaganda from either heel of the horseshoe. There are serious issues to be hashed through.
